Meet The Team

Lanarkshire Links is guided by a Management Committee of service users, carers, and partner representatives who oversee its vision, values, and operations.

Management Committee

• The Management Committee consists of service users and carers along with representatives from NHS Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire Council.
• The Management Committee members, supported by the staff team, are responsible for ensuring that Lanarkshire Links is focused on its aims and objectives; for safeguarding its values and vision and managing all aspects of its business.
• The Management Committee is elected in September each year at the Annual General Meeting.
• The Management Committee meets every 6 weeks (approximately) to carry out the business of the organisation.

Management Committee Members

Cora Cowan

Chair Person

I’m the Chairperson for Lanarkshire Links, as well as serving as a member of the Business and Development Subgroup. I first heard about the charity through meetings at my church, and after experiencing firsthand how much they helped me with my own mental health, I knew I wanted to get involved. I’ve served on a few different boards over the years, and I love getting stuck into our events and meetings, using my experience to support the team and spreading the word about the amazing work we do.

John Pursley

Vice Chair Person

I have been a member of Lanarkshire Links since the organisation started and have served on the board since 2002. Due to my own lived experience, I am passionate about advocating for change to mental health services. I have volunteered and served on the board of other organisations and bring this experience to Lanarkshire Links.

May Burns

Treasurer

I am the treasurer for Lanarkshire Links. I first heard about Lanarkshire Links from another member. I have been a treasurer before for over 20 years and I use this experience to help spread the work of Lanarkshire Links.

Donna McAllister

Secretary

I am the secretary of Lanarkshire Links as well as a serving member of the Business and Development Subgroup.  I heard about Lanarkshire Links from the Health and Social Care Forum when volunteering for local groups. I like to be involved with all sorts of events, and I want to spread the word on the work that’s being done local to me.

Tommy Murphy

Board Member

I am a trustee as well as a member of the Business and Development  Subgroup for Lanarkshire Links. I joined as I wanted to help other people with their own mental health just like my friend had done for me. I have helped influence change as I have worked with Service users and like to get them involved by offering the opportunity to come to our amazing groups.

Morag Davies

Board Member

I am a trustee of Lanarkshire Links and I heard about them from a group years ago. I joined to help, I go to a range of other groups and I like to attend consultations. I help by letting other people know what is going on with Lanarkshire Links and encourage them to join as a member.

Jacqui Fulton

Board Member

I am a trustee of Lanarkshire Links and I heard of them through word of mouth. I would like to help anyone who needs the help and support through holistic activities at our Mental Health and Wellbeing Groups. I do a range of activities and like to be very hands-on with the work I am doing. I want to help people get involved by telling them about all the great work that Lanarkshire Links does.

Lesley Tominey

Board Member

I am a trustee with Lanarkshire Links. I heard about Lanarkshire Links from Lanarkshire Carers. I joined to help my knowledge as a carer and to help be involved with the community as I like to raise awareness of Lanarkshire Links and to show off the amazing work they do.

Core Team

Liz MacWhinney

Manager

I support the charity’s trustees, making sure that effective and fair management are in place. As well as ensuring that lived experience is at the forefront of what we do. I am passionate about ensuring the voices of people with experiences of mental health are heard at all levels of planning and delivery.

Lorraine Swan

Development Manager

In my role I work closely with Health and Social Care as well as our community partners to ensure that the voices of people using mental health services are heard and genuinely influence decisions. I also support and manage a brilliant team of peer workers across acute inpatient wards in NHS Lanarkshire, helping them build on peer-led mental health initiatives.  I’m passionate about working side-by-side with people and creating change together through shared ideas and teamwork.

Becca Hibbard

Development Officer

My role is split; I am a youth Development officer in South Lanarkshire and run youth wellbeing groups, and in the North I work in partnership with VOEF and NLDF managing The Growth Pot funding, which allows us a chance to award funding to small projects to help with engaging people in their communities within North Lanarkshire. I also run creative workshops and wellbeing groups.

Megan Finlay

Young Adult Development Officer

My role involves supporting young adults aged 16–35 by promoting positive mental health and wellbeing through regular group sessions and by collaborating with service providers to enhance awareness and understanding of local support services.

Ava Allan

Social Media Officer

My main job is to be the voice of the organisation online. I manage all our social media accounts, from planning what to post to creating the content itself.

My goal is to make sure people know about our cause, understand our mission, and feel inspired to get involved; whether by volunteering, engaging with us at events or even becoming a member and attending our meetings!

Angela Weir

Administrator

As the administrator, I am responsible for supporting the day to day running of the charity, maintaining our organisational efficiency and supporting the work of the team as a whole.
